Revealed! Top Celebrities Who Have Attempted Suicide

Some of our most admired celebrities have at one point attempted suicide due to so many reasons, as depression tops the list of those reasons.

Suicide attempt could have been due to the fact that no one heard their cries for help or they were ashamed to let anyone know that they were depressed.

These celebrities, with their suicidal attempts put Nigerians in a perplexed state as to main reason why depression would result into one taking his or her own life.

List of celebrities who have at one point or the other in their life attempted suicide have been compiled.

TeeBillz:

Tunji Balogun, Tiwa Savage’s husband in his suicidal attempt took to Lekki-Ikoyi Bridge to leap for his life. With some bottles of alcohol found on the floor of the car and a couple of Instagram posts explaining reasons for his depression. This was after his initial rant on social media, accusing Tiwa Savage of infidelity. Fortunately for Billz, Peter Okoye and Banky W arrived just in time to pull T-Billz and the “yellow man” who almost fell over in his attempt to grab TeeBillz away from the bridge.

Tonto Dikeh:

Tonto Dikeh admitted she suffered from depression in 2013. The actress, singer attempted to take her own life at that time before she took depression classes. Confirming her struggle with depression, Tonto in an interview said “I would say I have a great and strong personality. I love myself so much. I am not also as shy as most people think I am. I didn’t let depression eat me up. You have to fight depression and overcome it; I did and won. I started the Tonto Dikeh Foundation so I can help others conquer depression”.

Ereme Abraham:  

Popular UK-based Instagram comedian, otherwise called ‘Twyse‘, who plays the role of Taofeek and Edo Boy in his funny skits also went on social media rant about how miserable his life was. He went as far as attempting suicide and possibly blow his brains out if only he could find a gun. It was not clear what has led him to the brink of suicide, but he’s also emphasized that he won’t be making anymore funny videos. After several calls from Nigerians and actress, Toyin Aimakhu, the comedian had a rethink.

Morenike Alausa:

The veteran actress more known as Mama Ereko also had her own share of depression. She admitted she almost took her own life after her son suddenly returned to Nigeria from London for no reasonable reason. The actress said she spent all her life savings to secure her son’s traveling documents only for him to return home empty handed.

Ruth Eze:

Fresh on the list is Nollywood actress, Ruth Eze who also attempted suicide after she was jilted by her lover based in Nigeria. It was reported that Ruth went visiting her man in Abuja, only to discover that he has been having affair with her close friend and colleague in the entertainment industry. Ruth who thought she had been forgiven of her lesbianism scandal, was stuck in her hotel room for over 24 hours. It was later discovered that she had bought overdose of sleeping pills in an attempt to take her life but for the timely intervention of another actress who had accompanied her to Abuja”.
