JIGAWA STATE UNIVERSITY NAMES FORMER PRESIDENT OLUSEGUN OBASANJO AS CHANCELLOR


The governor of Jigawa State, Sule Lamido has
appointed a former president of the Federal
Republic of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo as
the Chancellor of the newly established Jigawa
State University.
According to the Jigawa State Commissioner for
Education, Science and Technology, Professor
Haruna Wakili, the appointment of the former
president was backed by Section 8 of Jigawa
State University Law, 2013 and Section 2 of the
second schedule of the law.
The commissioner added that Obasanjo was
chosen for his contributions to making a modern
Nigeria.
It would be recalled that Lamido served as
Foreign minister of Nigeria, during Obsanjo's
second tenure as a democratic President, from
1999 to 2003.
