The Governing Council of Olabisi Onabanjo
University (OOU), Ago Iwoye, has been ordered by
the state government to close down the school to
forestall the break down of law and order.
This followed series of violent protests by the
students of the institution over the decision of the
state government to implement the new fee
regime by next session.
The students on their own part are demanding
that it begins from the current session describing
it as a political ploy since elections will be coming
up next year.
According to Police Public Relations Officer, DSP
Muyiwa Adejobi, the action of the state
government, coupled with the intelligence and
other information received from the students
body of OOU, led to the closure.
He, therefore, warned concerned students of the
affected institution to leave the school premises
as directed by the government and do away with
any act that would be unlawful and security-
threatening.
